Social Impact
Unido is a business that firmly believes in empowering and helping coffee growing communities through a series of projects focused on three pillars: environment and sustainability, coffee quality and quality of life.
We hope that every grain of coffee, roasted with love by Unido, contributes to the proliferation of sustainable and socially responsible farms, and causes a positive impact in the social and economic development of coffee growing communities.
Through our foundation, we have undertaken a series of initiatives, such as:
Fincas de Esperanza
Fundación Unido, Casa Esperanza and Elida Estate joined forces to habilitate a school and dining quarter for migrant harvest workers, mostly Gnabe families, with the goal of providing a worthy education and proper nourishment during harvest season.
New micro producers
We recently executed a study and mapping of panama’s coffee growing region, working together with the InterDevelopment Bank (BID), in order to identify potential micro producers in the different coffee growing zones, as well as to gather data about yields, varietals and land use. This study will provide the basis that will be used to implement a seedling and coffee education program designed to empower communities and provide them with the tools necessary to produce specialty coffees, therefore improving their income and quality of life in the long run.

In addition to these projects Unido is a proud supporter of micro producers, and we constantly strive to discover new smaller farms by cupping and testing their lots and paying premium prices for those coffees that make it into our menu.
